JUNE 7-OWN HARA'S CAR - THE BELT ONE
With all the fuss everyone's making over the prototype shaft-drive
car that Atsushi Hara and other members of HPI's racing team
used at the IFMAR World Championships, HPI is quick to remind
us that the heart of their belt car, the Pro 3, is still beating
loudly. Check out this image from HPI Japan's website. This
is the new Pro 3 Atsushi Hara Edition, which comes with a
whole bunch of cool hop-up parts, some of which are all-new.
The most significant change seen on this edition is the use
of a new dual-deck graphite plate chassis, which will surely
address the rigidity issue which has otherwise hampered the
Pro 3 on high-traction surfaces. Also of note are the purple-anodized
threaded shocks and new rear diff design. No word on whether
this kit will come to the U.S., but we can hope.

MAY 28--GO SPEED RACER GO!
Whether you're a fan of the American-zied TV kiddie show Speed
Racer or a hard-core otaku Mach Go Go Go! buff, Kyosho's cool
new Mini-Z Mach 5 racer will have you bustin' out like Chim-Chim
after a laced banana. Based on the popular Mini-Z 1/24-scale
R/C chassis, the Mach comes fully assembled with a Kyosho
Perfex 2-channel radio system and a nicely detailed injection-plastic
body shell. With fully proportional steering and throttle
control (in both forward and reverse), Kyosho's mini-Mach
has everything that a teen hero could need - except for maybe
a hood-mounted buzz-saw.

MAY 7--ASSOCIATED ANNOUNCES NEW READY-TO-RUN GAS TRUCK!
We don't mean to insinuate that our June issue's shootout
between the Associated GT RTR and the new Losi NT RTR had
anything to do with the release of this substantially updated
RC10GT RTR Plus, but it's almost scary how the AE boys seemed
to have addressed every issue we had with the venerable GT
RTR.

APRIL 24--TRINITY ANNOUNCES ULTRA METAL CELLS
Modern NiMH cells should be a racer's dream come true. They
have enough capacity to finish every race with juice to spare,
but if there has been one complaint about these 3000mAh super-cells,
it's that they lack the "punch" of the lower-capacity NiCd
cells. The first batteries to address this issue were the
Panasonic Stock Metal Hydride cells, which provided higher
voltage than had ever been seen in a sub-C NiMH battery. Now,
Trinity has just announced the successor to the Stock Metal
Hydride battery, a cell with even better voltage.Click
